Business Intelligence Manager

Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Manager of Business Intelligence (BI) to lead our BI team. As the Manager of BI, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of our data infrastructure and data analytics. Your role will involve managing a team of data engineers, and BI engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving the implementation of scalable and efficient data solutions to support our organization’s data-driven initiatives. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure their professional growth and development. Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including data analysts, data scientists, and business users, to understand data requirements and design robust and scalable data infrastructure and architectures that support analytics needs. 
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of data marts, dashboards, and data reports. Ensure data pipelines are efficient, reliable, and scalable. 
  • Establish and enforce data quality standards, data governance policies, and data management best practices across the organization. Implement data validation and cleansing processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity. 
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging data engineering and BI technologies, tools, and frameworks. Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies and solutions to enhance BI capabilities and drive innovation. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders, to understand project requirements and deliver data engineering solutions that meet business needs. Manage project timelines, resources, and priorities to ensure successful project execution. 
  • Continuously monitor and optimize data pipelines, data processing workflows, and data infrastructure to improve performance, scalability, and efficiency. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and optimize data storage and retrieval mechanisms. 
  • Ensure data security and compliance by implementing appropriate access controls, encryption mechanisms, and data protection measures. Stay updated with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and industry best practices related to data security and privacy. 
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including technical specifications, data dictionaries, and operational procedures. Generate reports and provide regular updates on data engineering activities, project status, and performance metrics to stakeholders. 

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in data analysis and reporting, with at least 3 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of data engineering concepts, data integration, ETL processes, and data warehousing principles. 
  • Proficient with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and data modeling concepts is preferred.  
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala. Experience with SQL and relational databases is required. 
  • Familiarity with big data technologies and frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform). 
  • Solid understanding of data governance, data quality, and data management best practices. 
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail. 
  • Project management skills to plan, execute, and deliver data engineering projects within scope and schedule. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
