Data Project Manager

Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Data Project Manager to oversee and lead data implementation projects within our organization. Our Data Project Manager will be responsible for managing the end-to-end lifecycle of data projects, including data implementation and customer support. In addition to ensuring successful delivery of projects within scope, budget, and timeline, this person also provides exceptional customer support throughout the implementation process, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive the execution of data engineering initiatives and achieve business objectives. 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria. Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and dependencies. 
  • Ensure alignment between project goals and business objectives. 
  • Lead project teams through the execution phase, coordinating activities, monitoring progress, and managing risks and issues. 
  • Translate requirements into technical specifications and project deliverables. Conduct regular requirement reviews and manage changes throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Coordinate the activities of data engineers, data scientists, and other project team members. 
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to data engineering teams, ensuring adherence to best practices, standards, and quality assurance processes. 
  • Provide guidance and support in the configuration, integration, and deployment of data solutions. 
  • Leverage technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during the implementation process. 
  • Conduct regular code reviews and ensure compliance with data governance policies and data security standards. 
  • Establish effective communication channels with stakeholders, providing regular project status updates, highlighting risks and issues, and facilitating decision-making. 
  • Prepare and deliver project reports, presentations, and documentation as required. 
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues. 
  • Develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address potential roadblocks. 
  • Proactively communicate risks and issues to stakeholders and facilitate resolution. 
  • Develop and implement change management strategies to ensure smooth project delivery and adoption of data engineering solutions.  

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Project Manager or similar role. 
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of data engineering concepts, data integration, ETL processes, and data warehousing principles. 
  • Experience in managing end-to-end project lifecycles, including project planning, execution, and delivery. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. 
  • Proficient in project management methodologies and tools. PMP or Agile certifications are a plus. 
  • Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and data management best practices. 
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. 
  • Flexibility and comfort working in a dynamic and constantly changing environment of a startup.
