Senior DevOps Engineer

Summary 

The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining systems to operationalize our scalable automation systems. This role provides technical guidance to developers and works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our software is delivered quickly, securely, and reliably. Our DevOps team thinks strategically, resolves issues quickly, and unblocks employees in the DevSecOps area. The ideal candidate will have a passion for growing their skills, tackling interesting work, and solving complex problems. 

Responsibilities 

  • Design and implement scalable automation systems for our products. 
  • Maintain and improve existing systems to ensure smooth and secure technical delivery. 
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues using log and APM tools such as CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Splunk, New Relic, and Datadog. 
  • Develop and maintain scripts for automation, monitoring, and deployment. 
  • Work closely with developers to ensure that development systems such as CI/CD and Test Automation are integrated into the development process. 
  • Manage and maintain Kubernetes clusters. 
  • Build Docker images and manage Docker containers. 
  • Ensure security and compliance of systems, especially in cloud environments such as AWS. 
  • Proactively monitor systems to identify potential issues before they occur. 
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide support for critical production issues. 
  • Continuously improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of systems. 
  • Document processes, procedures, and configurations for systems and tools. 
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest DevOps and cloud technologies, tools, and trends. 

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience including diagnosing and troubleshooting issues using log and APM tools (e.g. CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Splunk, New Relic, Datadog). 
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and/or equivalent work experience. 
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and Command Line Interfaces. 
  • Experience with Jenkins, Kubernetes, and Docker. 
  • Experience building development systems such as CI/CD and Test Automation. 
  • Experience with cloud environments and cloud security practices (AWS preferred). 
  • Passion for growing your skills, tackling interesting work and complex problems. 
  • Excellent prioritization, logical deduction and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to innovate in a fast-growing work environment and comfortable dealing with ambiguity. 
  • Highly motivated self-starter who is an excellent team player. 
  • Outstanding communication (both verbal and written) skills. 
  • Flexibility and comfort working in a dynamic and constantly changing environment of a startup.
